New Dive Sites added in 2025

2025 was a great year for the artificial reef program in Bay County. We added two new dive sites, the Black Pearl and the Hornblower. The Black Pearl is noteworthy because she was made for the Pirates of the Carribean movie franchise. Local welding programs added some fun treats to the bare steel hull as additional flare before she was deployed. This wreck is considered part of the "Inshore" dive sites and is reasonably close to the Hovercraft, Black Bart and SPan 14.

 

The Hornblower Tug is deployed in the "Offshore" category relatively near Stage 1 and in the middle of several large industrial spools that were previosouly deployed at this site in recent years. We added excursion lines from the wreck to the spools to make navigation out and back foolproof for divers exploring this site.
