Advanced-Adventure Diver

Advanced-Adventure certification is the next serious step in dive training. Most charter operators require this level of certification to do wrecks or reef dives beyond 60'. The Advanced Scuba Diver Development Program was created to make truly “Advanced Divers” and start them down this path. If you’ve taken your Open Water Scuba Diver course and are now ready to expand your knowledge but would like to see what is out there first, then the SDI Advanced Adventure Diver course is for you!

Under SDI, a full Advanced Certification isn't earned until a diver has logged 25 dives and completed 4 full specialty courses.

In Panama City we have some great dives in the range of basic openwater divers but we have many more in offshore (Federal) waters that are beyond that shallower limit. The advanced-adventure scuba certification requires additional eLearning and 5 specific training dives.

advanced-adventure divers are certified to dive deeper than openwater diversShipwrecks can be exciting and challenging dive sites to explore from dive charters

Two of the required specialties are the Deep Diver and Navigation Diver specialties which are the foundation of continuing diver education. The remaining specialty dives you (with instructor approval) can opt for include:

  • Advanced Buoyancy Control
  • Altitude Diver
  • Boat Diver
  • Computer Nitrox Diver
  • Drift Diver
  • Marine Ecosystem Awareness
  • Many more!

This course is intended to introduce you to each of the five specialties selected; not complete comprehension of the chosen specialty. One dive from each of the chosen specialties may apply towards the completion of a specialty certification.

Advanced-Adventure scuba Certification is for dives up to 100'. This course usually requires a trip into the deeper waters offshore for the deep training component so reserving your class in advance is required to get a seat on the boat. This class pairs very well with a nitrox class to help divers get the most out of their bottom time.

Students will need their own*;

  • Mask,
  • Fins,
  • Wetsuit (seasonally),
  • Regulators,
  • BCD,
  • Computer and SMB.

*rental gear is available and we offer generous student discounts as well as gear packages if you are considering purchasing your own gear.

We’ll send you the eLearning access as well as be standing by to answer any questions you might have.

Tanks, Weights, Liftbags, compasses and other class specific gear is provided free of charge.
